Dr. Christopher Lai
After working for years at several different orthodontic offices, Dr. Chris has found the qualities of an excellent orthodontic office that best benefit his patients. He vows to provide superior patient-centered care. He has a wealth of experience with complicated multi-disciplinary cases and creating a smile that captures both beauty and health.
Dr. Chris attended the University of Pennsylvania for both his undergraduate and dental school education. At Penn Dental, he distinguished himself not only academically but also as a leader in community health while actively researching innovative dental materials. He is the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships, including the SCADA Dentsply Sirona Research Award, Dental Trade Alliance Foundation Scholarship, Academy of Dental Materials Award, Predoctoral Endodontics Award, The Adrian R. and Regina Kristeller Prize in Radiology, and the Dr. Morris Bradin Award in Periodontics.
Dr. Chris is deeply engaged in the dental community. He serves as a Governor on the Board of the Philadelphia County Dental Society and as an assistant editor for their publication. In addition, he is an external board member for the Institute of Clinical Bioethics at Saint Joseph’s University, where he acts as dental advisor for their health promoter program and provides free dental screenings to communities in the Philadelphia region. He has also been inducted into the prestigious Fellowship of the International College of Dentists for his demonstration of Integrity, Leadership, and Service.
Dr. Chris was born and raised in Philadelphia with his family roots in Hong Kong. He went to Holy Redeemer in Philadelphia’s very own Chinatown and Neumann-Goretti High School in South Philadelphia where he graduated valedictorian in his class. He chose to stay in Philadelphia where he attended the University of Pennsylvania and stayed there to complete his dental school education. He fell in love with the South Jersey area because his sister and her family live in Cherry Hill. He absolutely loves exploring South Jersey for all the foodie spots that have been opening and is obsessed with playing pickleball in his free time. He is also working on improving his Cantonese and Mandarin.
